CNN STUDIOS AT TIME WARNER CENTER, New York, NY (2004)

Specifier: Kostow Greenwood Architects, Architect / New York, NY
Lighting Designer: Kugler Tillotson Associates / New York, NY
Installer: NEWMAT USA LTD. / W. Babylon, NY

Project: CNN has established new headquarters for its New York-based activities in the recently completed Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. For this integrated, state-of-the-art digital production facility, Newmat was utilized to build recessed light boxes using double-layered NEW/LIGHT systems, which provides the artificial lighting throughout the newsrooms and other studios.

Newmat was also chosen to create 3-dimensional floating lighting fixtures in the CNNfn newsroom. Since this newsroom is capable of 24-hour live transmissions and equipped so that cameras can pan over the room to display working journalists and technicians, the design aspect and outcome of these lighting fixtures was critical.
